For snow removal companies in Alberta

The morning after a snowfall, it picks up when you can't

You're in the truck at 4 am and the phone won't stop: regulars asking when you're coming, new people wanting a one-time clear. Your phone rings first. The calls you can't take go to NoMissedJobs, which gets the address and what needs clearing and texts it to you. It never makes up an arrival time.

Treated as emergencies

  • Someone who has to get out for dialysis, oxygen, home care or an ambulance
  • A business entrance that's open and icy right now
  • A blocked fire lane or fire exit at a business
  • Water coming inside from an ice dam

Your on-call person gets a text right away, and the caller can be patched straight through. A sagging roof, a gas smell or a carbon monoxide alarm gets 911 first.

On the call

It asks what your crew would ask

Short questions, one at a time, so your crew shows up knowing what they're walking into.

Questions it asks

  1. New customer, or one of yours?
  2. House, condo, business lot or acreage?
  3. What needs clearing: the driveway (single, double or triple), walks and steps, the city sidewalk, a lot?
  4. One-time, or monthly or seasonal?
  5. How much snow is down? Packed ice or a city windrow?
  6. Sand or salt wanted?
  7. Gate codes, parked cars, where the snow can go?
  8. When do you need to get out?
  9. The address and postal code, to check it's in your service area

Safety first

  • A sagging roof, cracking sounds or doors suddenly sticking under heavy snow: it tells the caller to get everyone out of that area and call 911, and that nobody should go on the roof.
  • Gas smell, a plow hitting the gas meter, or a carbon monoxide alarm: everyone out, then call 911 or the gas emergency line from outside.
  • If anyone is hurt, it tells them to call 911.

Needs attention soon

  • A contract property that was missed or only partly done
  • A city windrow blocking a driveway
  • A city notice to clear a sidewalk
  • A one-time clear wanted today
  • Ice building on walks after a thaw

Sent to you right away as a request. It never gives an arrival time.

Why answering matters

Calgary had 31 snow events last winter, starting October 11. March and April brought the most snow.

After the call

What you get from every call

  • A request by text

Address, number and what needs clearing, sent to your phone after each call. Their name is on the request in your dashboard.

  • Every request in one place

Requests and messages from regulars are on your dashboard, with Quote and Invoice buttons.

  • A text for the customer

If they say yes to texts: we got your request, and you'll confirm the price and timing. No arrival time.

  • The recording and transcript

Every call is in your dashboard, so you can hear exactly what was said.

A second line for texts

Put your NoMissedJobs number on your truck, website and Google profile. Customers who'd rather text can send SNOW with their address and what needs clearing, or send photos. A SNOW text with an address opens a request and texts you. It doesn't chat back, and every text is in your dashboard.

FAQ

Questions from shops like yours

Will it tell my customers when the truck is coming?
No. It can't see your trucks or your route, so it never gives an arrival time or promises today. Regulars who call get told you have their message, and you get a text with their address.
What happens to one-time and seasonal requests?
It takes the address, what needs clearing, one-time or seasonal, how much snow is down, and when they need to get out. You get a text with the details, and the request is on your dashboard. You confirm the price and timing. It never adds anyone to your route.
Will it quote my prices?
Not for snow clearing. It tells callers you'll confirm the price.
What if 30 people call at once after a storm?
It can answer several calls at the same time, but there's a limit. If too many calls arrive at the same moment, callers hear a short message that someone will call them back, and you get a text and a callback ticket (terms, section 3.5). With forwarding on no answer, your phone still rings first, so you take the calls you can.
How many minutes does a storm use?
Only talk time counts. 200 minutes is about 65 three-minute calls. A month with 600 minutes of calls would be C$59 + 400 × C$0.25 = C$159. You get a text at 80% and 100% of your minutes, and it's month to month, so you can stop when the snow does.
Can I show a customer we were there?
Job Proof is rolling out to founding shops from October 13. Your crew takes before and after photos from a job link, each with the time it was taken, and the customer gets a link to the visit record. In this first version each visit is its own job, so it fits one-time and commercial visits better than a full residential route.
Do I keep my number?
Yes. Set your phone to forward calls when you don't answer, when you're busy and when you're out of range. Your phone rings first, and only the calls you miss come to NoMissedJobs.
