Call forwarding codes for Alberta businesses: TELUS, Rogers, Bell, Koodo, Fido, Freedom (2026)

Send the calls you can't answer to another number, like your NoMissedJobs line, instead of voicemail. Here are the codes for each carrier, the phone menus, what it costs, and how to undo it.

Four kinds of forwarding

Most cell carriers use the same standard codes. Each kind covers a different moment.

  • No answer

    For your cell

    *61*NUMBER#

    Your phone rings first. If you don't pick up in time, the call goes to the other number.

    Catches the calls you can't grab from a roof or under a sink.

  • Busy

    For your cell

    *67*NUMBER#

    You're already on a call.

    The second caller gets an answer, not voicemail.

  • Unreachable

    For your cell

    *62*NUMBER#

    Your phone is off, in airplane mode or has no signal.

    Catches calls while you're in a basement or a dead zone.

  • All calls

    For an office line

    *21*NUMBER#

    Every call goes straight to the other number. Your phone doesn't ring.

    Good for an office line after closing.

02Recommended for a cell phone

Your phone rings first. Then it forwards.

Forward on no answer, busy and unreachable. You still pick up every call you can take, and the rest go to the other number instead of voicemail.

Before you start

  • Check what forwarding costs on your plan. Some carriers charge for every forwarded minute.
  • Note where your calls forward now (usually voicemail), so you can put it back. On Rogers, dial *#61#, *#67# and *#62# to see.
  • On Rogers or Fido, voicemail has to be off for these codes to work. Ask your carrier to remove it.
  • On Bell or Virgin Plus, use your phone's call forwarding menu instead of codes.

What forwarding costsPhone menus

  1. Get the number you're forwarding to

    Type it as 10 digits, with no spaces or dashes. For example, (403) 555-0123 is typed 4035550123. With NoMissedJobs, it's the number we give you. In every code, it goes where you see NUMBER.

  2. Forward the calls you don't answer

    Dial *61*NUMBER# and press Call. Your phone still rings first.

  3. Forward calls while you're on the phone

    Dial *67*NUMBER# and press Call.

  4. Forward calls when your phone is off or out of range

    Dial *62*NUMBER# and press Call.

  5. Test it

    From another phone, call your cell and let it ring. After a few rings, the other number should answer. Then call while you're on a call to check busy.

The first 20 seconds of a call

A North American ring is 2 seconds of ringing, then 4 seconds of silence. By 15 seconds your phone has rung 3 times; by 20 seconds, 4 times. That gives you time to answer first.

Set how long it rings

  • TELUS: one code does steps 2 to 4: *004*NUMBER*20#. The last number is the delay: 10, 20 or 30 seconds. Off: #004#.
  • Other carriers: the standard format is *61*NUMBER**20#, from 5 to 30 seconds. Rogers, Fido, Freedom and Koodo don't publish it. Unverified
  • If your phone rejects it, use *61*NUMBER# and time a test call.

  • Not available on TELUS Prepaid.

  • Koodo Prepaid supports unreachable forwarding only.
  • Koodo doesn't publish a delay code. The TELUS code *004*NUMBER*20# may work, since Koodo runs on the TELUS network. Unverified

CostRogers doesn't list a fee. Ask before you turn it on.

  • To see where calls forward now, dial *#61#, *#67# or *#62#.
  • Rogers says no-answer, busy and unreachable forwarding won't work while voicemail is on. If a code fails, ask Rogers to remove voicemail.

Phone menu

In your phone's settings:

  1. Call Settings
  2. Call Forwarding

For calls you don't answer, Bell's feature is called No Answer Transfer.

To turn forwarding off, choose Deactivate All.

Cost$0.25 a minute pay-per-use, or a monthly add-on.

  • Bell doesn't publish star codes. The codes other carriers use may work on Bell, but we couldn't confirm it. Unverified

Virgin Plus

Phone menu

In your phone's settings:

  1. Call Settings
  2. Call Forwarding

Choose the option for calls you don't answer.

To turn forwarding off, choose Deactivate All.

CostCharged like any other call. Long distance applies outside your home area.

Shaw Mobile

Now Rogers

  • Shaw Mobile closed to new customers on April 4, 2023, and its customers are being moved to Rogers.
  • Try the Rogers codes, or call Rogers. Unverified

04Phone menus

iPhone and Android menus

Bell and Virgin Plus don't publish codes, so use the menu. On an iPhone, the menu only forwards all calls.

05Office lines

Landlines and cloud phones

For an office line, forward all calls at closing with *72 and turn it off in the morning with *73. Or ask your carrier to set busy and no-answer forwarding to your number.

With *72, the line calls the new number to confirm. If it's your NoMissedJobs number, our receptionist answers. Stay on a few seconds, then hang up.

TELUS Home Phone

All calls
Dial *72 (or #72) and wait for 3 beeps, then dial NUMBER. Forwarding is on once that call is answered. Off: *73 (or #73).
Busy
*90 on, *91 off.
No answer
*92 on, *93 off. *94 sets how many rings first (2 to 9).
  • TELUS sets where busy and no-answer calls go. Call TELUS and ask for your forwarding number.
  • TELUS says new accounts can't turn busy and no-answer forwarding on and off themselves.

TELUS Business office line

All calls
Dial *72 (or #72), then NUMBER. Let the other line answer and stay on for 5 to 10 seconds. Off: *73 (or #73).
Busy
*90 on, *91 off, once TELUS sets it up.
No answer
*92 on, *93 off, once TELUS sets it up. *94 sets the rings (2 to 9).

Rogers Home Phone

All calls

Dial *90, then NUMBER, and stay on for at least 5 seconds. Off: *91.
No answer
Dial *92, then NUMBER, and stay on for at least 5 seconds. Calls forward after 4 rings. Off: *93.
  • With Rogers voicemail, these codes only turn message-taking on and off. Cancel voicemail, or use Home & Away Online Manager.

Shaw Home Phone (now Rogers)

All calls
Dial *72, then NUMBER. Answer at the other number to confirm. Off: *73.

Not listed. Call Rogers.
No answer

Shaw Business Phone (now Rogers)

Dial *72, then NUMBER, and pick up the ringing line to confirm. Off: *73. Or switch it in the self-serve portal.

  • A Rogers Business rep has to turn on busy and no-answer forwarding first. After that, you can change them only from the phone at your shop.

Cloud phone systems

Add an after-hours rule and a missed-calls rule that forward to the external number.

  • Google Voice

    Don't forward it to an answering service: Google says forwarding a Google Voice number to an automated system isn't supported. Give callers your NoMissedJobs number for after hours instead.

  • Ooma, Dialpad, Nextiva, 8x8, Vonage, Grasshopper

    Look for call forwarding, call handling, unanswered calls or after-hours rules, and forward to an external number. Then test it with a call. Unverified

Check what forwarding costs

Some carriers charge for every forwarded minute, unless forwarding is on your plan or you add it. Each carrier's rate is on its card above.

At $0.25 a minute, 200 forwarded minutes add $50 to your phone bill.

That's Bell's pay-per-use rate, and 200 minutes is what the NoMissedJobs plan includes. On Koodo, the $5 add-on costs less than pay-per-use once you forward more than 8 minutes a month.

  • Prepaid: TELUS Prepaid has no call forwarding. Koodo Prepaid supports unreachable forwarding only.
  • To avoid the fees: add your carrier's forwarding feature, or skip forwarding and put the answering number itself on your ads, website and Google Business Profile.

If voicemail doesn't come back afterwards, call your carrier and ask them to turn it back on for no answer, busy and unreachable.

What does NUMBER mean in the codes?
It's the number you're forwarding to, typed as 10 digits with no spaces or dashes. For example, (403) 555-0123 is typed 4035550123.
How many rings before calls forward?
We suggest 15 to 20 seconds. A North American ring is 2 seconds of ringing and 4 seconds of silence, so 15 seconds is about 3 rings and 20 seconds is about 4. That gives you time to answer first.
Why won't forwarding work on my Rogers or Fido phone?
Rogers and Fido say no-answer, busy and unreachable forwarding don't work while voicemail is on. Ask them to remove voicemail from your line, then dial the codes again.
Does call forwarding cost extra?
It can. Koodo charges $5 a month or $0.60 a minute, and Bell $0.25 a minute or a monthly add-on. TELUS and Fido charge pay-per-use unless forwarding is on your plan or you have their add-on. Freedom says it's free within its networks. Rogers doesn't list a fee, so ask.
